Growing Events, Growing Financial Needs
The Annual Fishing Derby event has grown by word of mouth from one organization to another serving those with physical and mental disabilities in Oakland County. This event in particular has been growing so fast that we find ourselves looking for more financial assistance and donations. Each year the Fishing Derby is a success by providing the use of fishing poles and life preservers, as well as goody bags filled with donated items and T-shirts to guests, caregivers and volunteers. The employees with mental disabilities at Visions Unlimited (located in Farmington) print the T-shirts at wholesale cost to us. We need more and more shirts each year. This year we expect about 600 participants, plus 500 caregiver/chaperones and 400 volunteers. That's a lot of T-shirts! With a donation, corporations can have their corporate logo on the shirts if they provide camera-ready art. This is just one avenue that corporations and organizations can take to help us financially.
