Oakland County
Sheriff's Office
Who We Are...
The Oakland County Sheriff's Department founded the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Benefit for the Disabled in 1987. We established this non-profit organization to sponsor events and activities for adults and children with special needs that include mental and physical challenges in Oakland County. Our activities are run at no cost to the Sheriff's Department; all contributions made to our group are tax deductible and we file as a 501©3 non-profit organization.
What We Do...
Today we currently sponsor three annual programs in our calendar of events: The Annual Fishing Derby held at Dodge Park #4 in Waterford; a Holiday party at New Horizons (located in Auburn Hills), a non-profit organization that employs people who are mentally challenged; and the Holiday Shopping Spree for disabled, underprivileged children with the cooperation of the Big K-Mart on Dixie Highway in Waterford. The scope of these three events requires our Board of Directors and volunteers to conduct year-round planning and fund raising activities.
